Who we are
FrostBye™ Smoke Protection Tube
FrostBye is a small, innovation-driven agricultural company dedicated to helping farmers protect the crops they work all year to grow. We’re not a tech giant selling theoretical solutions — we’re growers, engineers, and problem-solvers who understand what a single cold night can cost. Every blossom matters, every season counts, and the margin between profit and loss can be determined by just a few degrees.
We focus on developing simple, field-ready tools that solve real problems without requiring expensive machinery, infrastructure, or complicated systems. Our mission is straightforward: reduce frost loss, protect yield, and make frost defense accessible to orchards and farms of all sizes — from small family operations to large commercial growers. A solution is only useful if it works in the field, is easy to use under pressure, and doesn’t break the bank.
That’s why we work directly with growers, test our products in real conditions, and improve based on what farmers tell us. Not theory, not laboratory assumptions, but results that stand up to wind, humidity, terrain, and the unpredictable reality of agriculture. Frost doesn’t care how sophisticated a system is — it just needs an opportunity to strike. Farmers deserve tools that close that gap.
The FrostBye™ Smoke Protection Tube is our answer to that need: practical, scalable, and designed to deliver meaningful protection during the most vulnerable stages of crop development. Whether you manage a few acres or hundreds, your potential loss is real — and so is the solution.
Protect the buds. Protect the harvest.
Because the work of an entire year shouldn’t be wiped out overnight.
FAQs
-
The tube produces a dense, slow-moving smoke layer that settles close to the ground. This smoke works like an insulating blanket, trapping the natural heat that the soil releases during the night. By reducing how quickly the heat escapes into the atmosphere it helps maintain a slightly warmer microclimate around buds and blossoms. Even a difference of 1–3°C can be enough to prevent frost damage.
-
Each tube burns and produces smoke for roughly 25–30 minutes. However, the warming effect lasts longer because the smoke lingers and slows heat loss. In many cases, the protective benefit can last 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on humidity, temperature drop rate, and air movement.
-
Use the tubes when frost is forecasted during sensitive growth stages—especially budding, flowering, and early fruit set. Start lighting them as temperatures begin to fall toward freezing (32°F / 0°C), not after frost has already formed. Early activation gives the smoke time to settle and form the protective layer.
-
The ideal number depends on orchard layout, crop type, and the severity of the temperature drop. On average, farmers use 3 to 5 tubes per acre. Higher-density orchards and open, wind-exposed areas may require more. Smaller gardens or sheltered areas may need fewer. Field testing will help determine the most efficient setup for your conditions.

Yes. When used properly, the formulation is non-toxic, low-odor, and plant-safe. It leaves no harmful residue on leaves, buds, or fruit. While lighting, standard smoke exposure precautions apply; avoid standing directly in the heaviest smoke. Once dispersed, it is safe to work around.

Yes, the tubes have a recommended shelf life of up to 24 months, but they can last much longer if stored properly. The recommendation is based on guaranteed performance, not because the product goes “bad” after that period.
